Ideal complement to the certification guide

I found this book to be a huge help in getting a more synthetic and organized picture of the complex mass of information that is required for the CCDA certification. It seems that the CCDA candidate is expected to have a deep knowledge of several aspects of networking, like wireless, voice, routing, switching, not to mention knowledge of the various industry solutions and standards, and the Cisco products in particular. 'Cisco CCDA Simplified' does a good job in presenting the material in a more concise and sometimes more organized manner, with respect to the official certification guide. The boundaries of CCDA don't appear to be very clear, and one book is definitely not enough for a good preparation. I feel that this book is a great complement to the certification guide and the top down network design guide. The Kindle edition is a steal, at just a few dollars, and i find it readable both on the Kindle and the Cloud Reader. I highly recommend this book to prepare for the CCDA

You can't beat this!

This book gives you a very good perspective on design and why designers make the choices they make! My manager does design for us, and he wants me to learn, and actually, when you get to the level of designing and architecting, you are at the top my friend! This book helps me to understand design and to develop a frame of thought when designing networks for customers. I'm studying for my CCIE R&S and this book has shown me that learning CCDA level material can very well help one study for their CCIE as well! Thank you sir for this well written tomb!

Written in an easy to read format and great for making it a pleasure to learn the basics. Only issue is that it doesn't have enough details to enable you to pass the CCDA test just relying on it. Don't rely on passing the test just using this but if you have enough time to study, it's worth a read since it reads so effortlessly. Not at all boring to read.

Hot, quick, and true to this author...

Laura agrees to sign herself up to be a part of the Club Spectrum auctions, intent on having one night to fulfill her fantasies of a darker, dirtier nature, but what she doesn’t expect, is to find herself mixed up with someone from her past. Slade, who wins the bid for her auction—a mighty price, I have to say—just happens to be the boy she has such a crush for years ago. He’s also her brother’s best friend, or was.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of uh-oh to go around.

Doris has this amazing ability that I appreciate in BDSM authors, when they manage to do it. It’s this little thing called giving BDSM with your story, not giving a story with your BDSM. It’s what makes up the difference between simply erotica and erotic romance. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference, which is often why I don’t read BDSM. However, I’ve come to trust this author’s ability to give me the story with the hotness, and she delivers, every single time.

Doris has a great grasp on human emotions when they’re living in the lifestyle, both in precarious situations, situations where the characters are letting go, and at times when they’re just plain old breaking down walls and barriers. Or, they could just be breaking the heck down. Either way, she plays those emotions like heartstrings. I love that. Give me the feels, I need them when I read.

With Slade and Laura, you really, really feel their struggle, both individually, and together. That’s a pretty amazing feat on Doris’ part if you consider the length of this story. Together, these characters left nothing to the wind. When they opened, they opened. When they gave in, they gave in.

That all or nothing feel is what gives this story the four stars for me.

The one thing that kept this from being a five star read was Laura and her brother Mike. Their issue was brought up, seemingly a part of the plot. Especially as it related directly to Slade in a way. Then, at the end, that was left hanging. There was no understanding from Mike to Laura, which would have been fine, even if Laura could have had a mental understanding with herself that she was “okay” with her brother not approving of her lifestyle. Instead, we see her still worrying and concerned over what her brother will think at the very end. I’m aware who the next couple are in the series, but I felt this story was Laura’s, so she should have at least mentally closed out her feelings on that matter.

The writing was clean. I didn’t find any typos. The one thing I did notice at the end, which very nearly slid past my eye because of placement and wording, was probably why it slipped past others’ eyes as well. The sentence: “…there was no mistaken the heavy erection he was now sporting.” I believe it should have been “mistaking”. But again, because of where it was, and the word, it’s not a surprise it slips past the eye and it really didn’t take anything from the stuff around it.
All in all, a great read by Doris O’Connor. She hasn’t failed me yet, and I’m looking forward to Mike and Scarlett, now!

Great book

Doris O’Conner is quickly becoming one of my favorite short story authors. Her ability to put a whole story together in a quick read, giving us suspense, intensity and emotions while bring the story to a satisfying closure is something I look for in short books.
In this first book of the series, we meet Slade and Laura. Slade was the best friend to Laura’s big brother Mike and she grew up adoring Slade and fantasizing about marrying him one day. To him, Laura was always just the little brat, but he did adore her.
When a tragic accident happen that left Laura’s parents dead and Laura injured, Slade was there to comfort her but he wasn’t allowed to stay. Falsely trusting Mike to take care of Laura, Slade left to pursue his own life when years later he comes face to face with her once again. She was being auctioned off at his club as a slave/submissive.
Once he was able to quiet his confusion and anger he purchased her and started uncovering what had happen to his little brat over the last few years. Love is there for both of them and we watch as they begin to figure out their future. Of course things won’t go smoothly when big brother Mike shows up to defend and protect his sister, but by this time the truth of what Mike had done after his parent’s funeral has been exposed and the friendship between him and Slade was already suffering.
I really love this book, it kept me turning page after page looking for answers and to a conclusion in the story of Slade and Laura. The only complaint I had is I wished this would have been a full length novel because I wasn’t done with the characters. The next book Auctioned to Protect proves to be as great of a read as this one and I will be looking for the third book in this series as well.
The author gives us characters that are so developed there is no need to term any of them as secondary characters. A friend recommended this book knowing that I love erotica and BDSM books (also I am in the lifestyle). I absolutely love this book..writing is great, storyline keeps you guessing, and the characters are real. I loved that Laura was not some mindless twit and went into everything with her head fully in it. The history between Laura and Slade is great and makes the story all that more enjoyable.

Amazingly Detailed Photos Makes Fossil Identification a Breeze

This two volume ebook is a great new resource to help the experienced fossil collector as well as novice and student to identify fossils of the Tennessee Valley. Five hundred (500) of the most common marine fossils are covered in beautiful, detailed photos and historical geological context. The photos are amazing and as a fossil collector of the Tennessee Valley I must say that this is the best material I have evere seen in publication. The ebook covering Crinoids and Blastoids really covers everything in the Bangor Limestone Formation which is the area of my interest. I have both ebooks and they are quite amazing.

This is an excellent book for identifying fossils in Tennessee & Kentucky, and possibly other states. There are many photos to help identify your finds and then learn about those fossils from the author' knowledgable summary on each. Well done and I would highly recommend this book, as well as the second book, to any fossil collector.

Claudia Card is Emma Goldman Professor of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the author of The Atrocity Paradigm: A Theory of Evil (2002), The Unnatural Lottery (1996), Lesbian Choices (1995), and more than 100 articles and reviews. She has edited several books, including The Cambridge Companion to Simone de Beauvoir (Cambridge University Press, 2003).

About the Author

Yunus A. Cengel is Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University. His areas of interest are renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy policies, heat transfer enhancement, and engineering education. He served as the Director of the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) at the University of Nevada, Reno, from 1996 to 2000. He has led teams of engineering students to numerous manufacturing facilities in Northern Nevada and California to perform industrial assessments, and has prepared energy conservation, waste minimization, and productivity enhancement reports for them. He has also served as an advisor for various government organizations and corporations.

Dr. Cengel is also the author or coauthor of the widely adopted textbooks Fundamentals of Thermal-Fluid Sciences, Heat and Mass Transfer: Fundamentals and Applications, and Introduction to Thermodynamics, all published by McGraw-Hill Education. Some of his textbooks have been translated into Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Italian, Greek, and French.

Dr. Cengel is the recipient of several outstanding teacher awards, and he has received the ASEE Meriam/Wiley Distinguished Author Award for excellence in authorship in 1992 and again in 2000. Dr. Cengel is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Nevada, and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Hands down one of the best fluid mechanics book out there.

I am an aerospace engineering college student, and this book is worth more than its weight in gold.

I have had the unfortunate/fortune chance of learning this subject with several comparable books by other authors [Fox, White, Munson, Elger, Kundu, etc.], and while I won't point fingers in labeling something bad or good as the subject can be difficult to grasp for some people (such as myself), each had their strong and weak points in the various aspects of fluid mechanics.

Having taken aerodynamics class back then, I found myself often initially deferring to the Cengel & Cimbala book as a great help in course refresher and referencing back key concepts simply because their book was easier to digest/follow the explanations and most of the examples. However, that book was their 2nd edition.

Needing this newer edition for a different class as per syllabus requirement, this updated version biggest improvement is that the text, page formatting, and figures are much richer in color. The 2nd edition had this somewhat monotonous blue theme, but this one looks nicer (easier on the eyes) and will catch and retain your attention in reading it even if the information is nearly the same with various new figures and more examples compared to the older version. Perfect. Almost worth the (forced) upgrade..

If cost is a secondary factor, I recommend this book to anyone taking and learning fluid mechanics their first time.

Excellent resource

The book provided a very clear and well defined theory behind each concept. The provided examples were also extremely well done, eliminating any confusing that can occur in poorly worked example problems.

Easy to follow

This book is hands down the most easily understood undergrad book I've read so far.

This book was chosen for my Chemical Engineering course, and while I can't testify to what extent it taught Chem-E specific concepts, seeing as this was my first fluids course, I had a firm grasp of every concept in the book we covered (no thanks to my instructor, if you catch my drift). Tons of pictures and helpful diagrams. Believe it or not, I actually WANTED to read this textbook.

I ordered mine "used" from TextbookRush Jan/2014 and I'm pretty sure the book was either brand new or the engineering student who previously owned it just used it as a paperweight.

The 7th edition of this best-selling bible of the World War II M1 Carbine has been revised and expanded to include new information regarding adjustable rear sights and their period of use, additional manufacturer's codes, new information regarding the importance of rebuilt M1 and M1A1 carbines, and Israeli, Italian reimported carbines, and a new table showing manufacturer's shipment's by dates.

The author, Craig Riesch, has compiled twenty-five years of surveys and research into this 235 page volume.

The book contains 40 charts and 215 photographs, and fourteen drawings. The book provides a history of the M1 Carbine's development, manufacture and use during World War II, as well as through the Korean War and the war in Vietnam.

The M1 Carbine is analyzed and described by its ten manufacturers, model and serial number range. The U.S. Army Ordnance Department required that virtually every part of the M1 Carbine be marked with a manufacturer s or subcontractor s code. Riesch has unraveled the manufacturer's and subcontractor's codes by serial number range and eliminated many spurious codes. Every major and most minor parts can now be conclusively identified by manufacturer and serial number range, making it possible to examine an M1 Carbine to determine its authenticity with a high degree of confidence.

Using the charts and photos the collector can identify the manufacturer and period of use for the receiver group, barrel group, trigger housing group, stock group and their component parts. Butt plates by the various manufacturers are shown in full-size photographs for easy identification.

All variations of the M1 Carbine are discussed M1, M1A1, M2, T2 and M3 by manufacturer. The aspects that make up the two types of true M1A1 folding stock paratrooper carbines are described and photographed. Serial number ranges for original manufacture of the M1A1 are also included. Reproduction folding stocks are shown and points of difference are identified so the collector will not be fooled by fakes.

The book is divided into six chapters and ten appendices. Each chapter describes a major subgroup of the M1 Carbine: receiver, barrel, trigger assembly, and stock.

Following a very thorough, illustrated introduction, this gem of a book details the M1 Carbine by groups with Chapter 1, The Receiver Groups, Chapter 2, The Barrel Group, etc. Each chapter features numerous illustrations and tables, with many of the photos close-up views. Appendices cover various Carbine-related topics, ranging from tools, ammunition, and rebuilt and imported Carbines, to disassembly/assembly of the M1.

About the Author
Craig Riesch is a well-known collector and scholar of U.S. military small arms. He is the author of U.S. M1 Carbines, Wartime Production and was the coauthor of The .45-70 Springfield and The M1 Garand, 1936 to 1957. He also edited The American Krag Rifle and Carbine and Swiss Magazine Loading Rifles, 1869 to 1958, all in the For Collectors Only series plus The AK-47 and AK-74 Kalashnikov Rifles in the Shooter s and Collector s series. Both series are guides to antique and collectible modern firearms identification and verification. Mr. Riesch has spent a great deal of time studying U.S. military firearms and is consulted by many collectors for authentication of military and civilian arms. He has been a collector himself for over forty years. Mr. Riesch is a U.S. Army combat veteran and served in Vietnam during the period of the Tet Offensive. He worked for 33 years as a product operations manager for a major defense company.

EXACTLY what a new collector needs for reference!

I bought this book and the too pricey War Baby! book too. No argument, War Baby! is the magnum opus of the M1 carbine world, BUT for me, this book was way more useful. I didn't want a history lesson or to see pictures of the factories (now bulldozed) where they were once built. I wanted to begin collecting. If you're already familiar with M1 carbines but want to learn about the different part variations, dates and manufacturers, this book is what you need. For example, I was looking for a reference book that would show me the differences between say, a type I, II, III, IV, V, or VI trigger housing. This book does that for every major (and minor) part on the rifle. It includes pictures of the different types, often side by side. It has measurements to the thousandths of an inch of parts variations. Plus all the manufacturers of that part,what serial # of production that part began with and sub contractor codes for all the parts. It's organized well, it's concise. It also has some sections on accessories such as bayonets, slings, magazines, stock pouches, etc. it breaks these down by subcontractors and dates too. It also occasionally points out where parts have been faked and precisely what to look for to tell real from fake. I don't give out too many 5 star ratings on Amazon. This one is a solid 5 stars.

The Complete Story

Here is an excellent resource for the M1 carbine collector, firearms collector, reenactor or military historian. The first section covers the history and development of the weapon and the remaining chapters detail production, covering the various makers, their proofmarks, dates of production and so forth. With this book a carbine owner can identify every aspect and component of one's firearm. One can also use this reference to assemble an M1 carbine that properly represents a weapon of a specific time period. If you are interested in M1 Carbines, this book should be in your firearms library!

Defective printing, spelling & missing words

the manual was full of typos missing words &/ extra words , in some sentences, but most of all, approximately
20 to 25 % of the manual has whole pages were faded or not enough ink on them. It was very difficult to read
such pages. The materiel itself was very good but I had to work hard to decipher it.
