Since 1967, George W. Moore IV has worked in interior design. He attended Furman University, University of South Carolina at Florence, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Graduate work was done through his alma mater and Washington University. He has had many results producing years of experience in his interior design practice. He enjoys gardening, landscaping, hosting dinner parties, and assorted spiritual pursuits. He collects and creates art. Moore and his dog and cat live in St. Louis, Missouri.

Intelligent Design

This book is aptly titled. It was written for those of us who wish to understand the basics of interior design and the importance of a pleasing home environment. It exposes the reader to the world of interior design from a philosophical point of view and explains how beauty in our surroundings can bring physical comfort and pleasure. Also, the book reveals how sound interior design can bring intellectual, physical and emotional satisfaction.

The book contains considerable practical information which I found very interesting and helpful. For example, it includes questions to ask a designer, questions to ask a contractor and pitfalls to avoid in executing a design project.

I enjoyed the book and found it informative as it provides an overview of all aspects of interior design. I believe this information will be useful to all regardless of budget constraints. I also found the book quite entertaining as it is sprinkled with humor throughout.

Excellent book of prophecy

This book exceeded my expectations. I have been researching prophecy, especially since the recent world events and this book gives a lot of insight into the proof of the Bible and the people who lived and wrote then. The sources used are solid and there for those who care to check them out. It is interesting to note that some who insisted that the Bible is full of errors and mistakes have had to admit they were wrong. I look forward to many hours of enjoyment reading about and loving my Lord more. I stand in awe when I see the wonderful way HE has left so many thousands of infallible proofs through time to show us that we can trust HIS word to guide us in this life.

Couldn't get through the formatting problems

This review addresses not so much the text of the book, but the formatting...

1. There is no TOC or navigation.
2. Footnotes are left in text, and some of them are very long, making it difficult to find your place between pages.
3. Greek is not formatted, since OCR technology isn't multilingual (yet).

I read about 12% of the book, but when I realized that the Greek wasn't added at all, I knew it was a lost cause. I could pull out the PDF for comparison every time I read the book, but that defeats the purpose of buying an ebook.

I create ebooks (some with Greek) so I know that is a time-consuming task to have to manually type every Greek reference. But without the Greek, this ebook was no use to me. If you don't care about the Greek then you might be able to get all the way through it. For me it was a deal-killer.

It gets 2 stars instead of 1 because I am only out 99 cents for buying this book. Also the text (that I could read) had useful info about papyri, ostraca, etc.

I hope a publisher takes the time to redo this ebook! I would give it another shot if someone does.

Modern Perspective on an old language

The other day, I read that something like 60% of enterprise code is still in COBOL, simply because it's been too difficult moving legacy systems to new platforms. That caught my attention and I got this to find out more. This is the newest book I've seen for COBOL. That's important not because COBOL has changed (not in a decade now) but because programming has changed and the coder's perspective has changed. Coughlan does a fantastic job of helping you understand both the computers and the programming tasks that COBOL was designed for. This mental model of how the first machines were programmed in COBOL makes it a lot easier to understand some of the things that would otherwise seem very strange. If you have a programming background and want to understand COBOL legacy code well enough to see what it is doing and tinker with it, this is a great book for getting up to speed.

the chapter discussions and examples make perfect sense to me

This is one of a very few selections of texts on COBOL. As an experienced C/C++ programmer, Java, et al, the chapter discussions and examples make perfect sense to me. Much of the key words and examples for use clearly cross-over into C/C++.

I was able to email the author for further information regarding COBOL, and he was very quick to respond to my questions.

Overall, this is an excellent introduction to COBOL, IMHO.

I swear to God and all that is holy, I fall madder and more deeply in love with Helena Hunting and her characters as the Pucked series continues. I didn’t think anyone could top Alex Waters in Pucked. Then came Miller “Buck” Butterson in Pucked Up. WRONG! I Fell hard. Then I said “Ok there’s no way anyone will top Miller.” WRONG AGAIN! Oh. So. Wrong. This book? I felt like I experienced an intergalactic orgasm!

Randy Balls Ballistic is unlike any book boyfriend I’ve ever met. He had me at “The #f*ck you say to her?” I can literally STILL hear that spoon drop in his bowl. **sighs** I will NEVER forget that moment. It’s to go down in my “Best book boyfriend moments of all time”. There’s just something about him. He’s chivalrous. Gorgeous. Sexy. Charming. Hilarious. Delicious. I wanted to lock him up in my pussy prison!!! And Lily? TO. DIE. FOR. She is my favourite lady. I could relate to her on so many levels. And she’s just adorable and feisty and simply beautiful in so many damn ways! She stole my heart! I want to marry her!

Now. Put these two together? BALLISTIC. MIND BLOWING. CHEMISTRY. Oh my God. Some of the scenes these two had. Whoa. I felt like I was zapped right in my vagina emporium! Some of the things these two would say to each other. Do to each other. JFC. HOTTER. THAN. HELL. Whew. Ok, lets talk about the FEELS. Because I have to say I am damn sure I felt them all. My heart swelled, stuttered and burst with love, happiness and even a bit of pain. Loved. It. And of course, we cannot forget to mention the comedy. Best. One liners. EVER. I laughed so damn hard I had tears. My face hurt from smiling so much. My abs felt like I did a bazillion crunches! Lily and Randy have touched a part of me forever. Maybe that sounds cheesy. But it’s the truth. Their love story is funny, sexy, emotional and endearing. It’s everything and all of the things that make the perfect romance novel.

Helena never ceases to captivate me with her originality and purely eloquent writing. There’s nobody like her. And that is part of what keeps me coming back again and again. She’s my kind of crazy

Having spent 38 years with my husband in the pastorate, I found the book to be relevant, reverent, and realistic. Our internal struggles of growth plus the stress of dealing with others' difficult problems caused us to lean on the Lord continually for guidance and wisdom. The author, a former Pastor, portrays all of this in a slower-paced novel set in the 1800s. His ability to apply spiritual understandings to everyday people/problems is unsurpassed. I admire MacDonald's writings, and would go so far to say he's my favorite author.

A Quiet Neighborhood?

Really enjoyed this one- He is a painter with words- This is a story about a young vicar with his first parish in Marshmellow. A slew of round characters, and a mysterious young woman under the thumb of her overbearing, and controlling mother add to the mystery. Damsels are rescued from fates worse than death, and families are reconciled, and villians are dealt with... It's a grand book for those in the ministry as he goes about his daily life in the village ministering to those who are both poor and rich. He's not perfect, but has a good heart, and you get to hear some George MacDonald sermons along the way. Some are rich in Christ, but poor in possessions, and several are wealthy in goods, but poor and hardened in spiritual matters. With God's wisdom, this vicar serves them and ministers to them all- reconciling many and handling a lot of sticky situations with aplomb. Would recommend this. I also listened to this because you really can't get the fullness without a re-read.

Pastoral fiction -- an old masterpiece

I'd gladly recommend this novel to anyone in pastoral ministry, involved in the "cure of souls." It relates the ministry of a pastor new to his parish and the relationships that he encounters in the course of his service to the community, as well as his own interior wrestling over personal matters. It's slow paced (as befits a story written in the late 1800s), but wonderful.
It's hard to tell how much might be autobiographical from George MacDonald's own life, but clearly his interest in ministering to the hearts and souls of people comes through.
