About the Author
Matthew McKay, PhD, is a professor at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. He has authored and coauthored numerous books, including The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook, Self-Esteem, Thoughts and Feelings, When Anger Hurts, and ACT on Life Not on Anger. McKay received his PhD in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, and specializes in the cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety and depression. He lives and works in the Bay Area.
Patrick Fanning is a professional writer in the mental health field. He is author of Visualization for Change and Lifetime Weight Control and coauthor of several self-help books, including Self-Esteem and 50 Ways to Simplify Your Life.
Avigail Lev, PsyD, maintains a private practice in Berkeley, CA. She specializes in couples’ therapy and also treats individuals who struggle with interpersonal problems, anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, and mood disorders. Effective, Clear, & Helpful Workbook for Those Struggling In Relationships

If you struggle with the same old relationship issues over and over, I definitely recommend purchasing this workbook! I am a licensed therapist and I use this workbook both with my clients and for myself. I have actually seen an improvement in my interpersonal skills, as I am able to be mindful of the maladaptive schemas I have adopted, which subsequently led to my changing some of my behaviors that kept me feeling "stuck." As a therapist, I go through a lot of psychology and self-help books. I definitely like the format of this workbook a lot better than many others, as the chapters are short and easy to understand and the activities are relevant and insightful. Highly recommend!

Good Application of ACT to Interpersonal Issues

I'm a big fan of ACT - it has helped me quite a bit in dealing with anxiety and depression. I have quite a few social issues and triggers, particularly when I'm low. This book helped me to sort them out and to apply ACT to make values-based decisions about my actions in social situations.

It is working for me!

I have not finished with this workbook yet, but it is already making a difference in my life. The book gives many illustrations and many ways to deal with working through bad feelings and fears instead of avoiding them using behavior that exacerbates interpersonal problems.
I especially love the analogy of Monsters on the Bus - dealing with the bad feelings that I usually attempt to avoid and bad feelings as clouds in an otherwise blue sky that will change with the wind.
